Early in each calendar year, FH Rotary Club presents a personal dictionary book to every third grade student in the Fountain Hills elementary schools. In addition to the dictionary, each book also contains a gazetteer made up of the following topics –
- Table of Weights and Measures
- The Declaration of Independence
- The United States Constitution
- Maps of the seven continents
- Information about the 50 states
- Biographies of the U.S. presidents
- Facts about the eight planets in the solar system
Thus, every student receives a useful reference book. Each book includes an inside front cover nameplate to identify the owner. Some of these books are also designated as presented in the name of a past program presenter to our club. The books are often valued by the students for several ensuing years.
