Arizona Supreme Court Justice Clint Bolick

Recently our featured speaker was Arizona Supreme Court Justice Clint Bolick.  Members enjoyed Justice Bolick's sense of humor while presenting stories about his path to becoming a State Justice.  Bolick told that he has always loved to write.   He said that he lacks typing skills enjoyed by most, but that has not stopped his production of written words.  In fact, when typing, the Judge only uses one index finger which has been rewarded with a scorpion tatoo!

Clint Bolick is an Associate Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court. Previously, he served as Vice President of Litigation at the Goldwater Institute, where he litigated against governments and government employees on behalf of citizens.   Bolick was appointed to the court on January 5, 2016, by Republican Governor Doug Ducey. Bolick succeeded Justice Rebecca White Berch, who retired in September 2015.  He is the first Independent appointed to the Arizona Supreme Court.

Prior to his appointment to the court, Bolick was a lawyer working as the vice president for litigation at the Goldwater Institute in Phoenix, Ariz. He gained a national reputation as a co-founder of the Institute for Justice in 1991. Working inside and outside of government, Bolick has focused on policy reforms in the areas of educationhealthcare, and economic regulation since 1978 and has won several awards for his efforts.

Our club's program chairperson, Steve Simon, repeatedly arranges for our members to hear from a wide variety of interesting people.  We often hear from elected officials who give us an update regarding current events within their offices and responsibilities.  Of course, we enjoy hearing from a wide variety of health, wellness and better living advocates.  On the upcoming calendar we have a speaker teaching us to avoid snakes, scorpions and other desert dwellers that can make our lives miserable when they are provoked.
